Fred Hooper, “owner and operator”, worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 33 years prior to starting up Speed of Light. At Sandia, Fred completed the machinist apprenticeship program and then entered the field of HEDW “High Energy Density welding” which included both Laser Beam and Electron Beam welding. Fred Has been awarded 2 patents and has over 30 years experience in the welding arena. Fred is teaching his two sons Tim and Eric the trade.

Speed of Light will develop and document weld schedules to meet customer requirements and continue the document package through production. We design and fabricate needed tooling and fixturing . We can also assist our customers with joint design and material considerations.
